Book Promotion

My good friend, Mary Penny, has just seen the release of her book The Woven Textile Industry in Lao PDR.
The book is an insightful look into the role of women in the textile industry in Lao, and is currently available on Amazon.  Well done Mary!

Fair Isle Christmas Lights

A beautiful installation series based on Fair Isle and Scandinavian knitting patterns.
Created by designers Samoyed and Dean Brown these christmas lights are a wonderful mix of the hand crafted encased in sterile looking glass tubes. The designs themselves were created using the computer then, after formatting the deisgns, they were each laser cut onto paper.

"A limited edition of 150 Fair Isle lights were produced ,exhibited and sold in Pageant Gallery, Edinburgh, Nov-Dec 2008." (http://www.mrdeanbrown.co.uk)

It's been a while....

(CORFU, 2009 USING LOMO 4 LENS CAMERA)
Summer is well and truly over, and I am struggling to find any free time any more.
Appologies for not updating on here for such a long time.
I had a well deserved holiday in Corfu at the end of September. It was exactly what I needed.
Coming back to London has been a trial, and now the bookshop I work at is being shut down, so in the new year I need to have found a new job.
On another note, I am still looking for inspiration for a new name, and I hope it won't be long. I will then be opening up a new blog, starting afresh with a new approach. Currently though, I am working on designs for scarves, but I am not going to rush anything, as I want to see where it will lead me. So expect new items at some point early next year.
As soon as my new blog is up and running I will let you know, and make sure you bookmark it.

NEW NAME

I would love to hear your views on my proposed new brand name for my handkerchief and scarf business.
I stumbled across this only yesterday, so it is a bit new, but I feel like I really like it.
SMUK
Smuk is Danish for beautiful.
What do you think?
